Unidentified Murano / Venetian Glass Vase
« on: January 28, 2008, 09:02:42 PM »
Can anyone help me narrow down the maker and the age of this wonderful vase?

Measuring 16 inches in height, It is made up of three colours, green, red and transparent. It has been hand-blown and has a snapped off pontil. It looks fabulous as the twisted colours appear to move as you walk past it. It is very light in weight and has a thin wall thickness. I am undecided to whether it is 1930's or a 1960's piece.

The picture does not do it justice and any white residue in the pictures has since been removed with the help of some vinegar!

Kind regards,

Wes

I would think the Murano experts should be able to help on this one,
my guess, looking at a few pics in books, would be a Venini piece, circa 50s/60s.

I doubt it's Venini, as I don't recognize the form nor the color combination.  I assume it's not signed?  Is the pontil polished? If the answer is no to both of those items, then it's definitely not Venini.

Lots of companies did and still make these kinds of items. I'm not sure who did this one, but it has a great look.

Hello,

No, it's not signed unfortunately and the pontil is not polished. The colour combination is wonderful - I can't stop admiring it!

Hi,
not Venini for sure. Different colours, different details.
I can suggest you some possible producers, if made during the last 10 years:
Campagnol e Salvadore
Linea Valentina
Millerighe
Furlan
Several other glassmakers can blow this item on request, but these company make them on regular/daily production

Sincerely

Alex
