blue-green & aventurine
« on: February 03, 2008, 02:07:45 PM »
I bought this amongst several other pieces this morning. The colours look similar but slightly more vivid than Mdina/IOW- predominantly clear blue with opaque green and lots of aventurine in the lower part. It is 13cm high. Any ideas for ID?
Thanks, David

Hi David,
Ive got one, abit bigger 23 cm tall, i got it several years ago on ebay,
and im 99% certain its Murano, company Nason, i think its probably V Nason,
I dont think theres a lot of age to it, circa 80s/90s. (looks great in my Bathroom!)

Maybe we could move this to Murano page for the experts to tell you more.

Thank Frank and Andy for your quick responses. I can now narrow down the search for a maker to Murano.

I'm unsure about V.Nason, unless there's one shown with a label: there are known Chinese makers with similar decoration. Dalian is one.

i've got to admit that it doesn't scream nason to me either. i think what bothers me most is the transparency. it's still a pretty vase i just couldn't confidently say that it's definitely v. nason. though, admittedly, i'm much more familiar with their molded pieces rather than free blown, so accept my opinion for what it's worth (just one girl's opinion  :spls: )

I had a vase that I found out was available at Pier 1 made of glass that looked very similar.  Wish I could find a photo of it!  My guess, too, is Chinese.
