It looks like Victorian spatter glass, or if it has metallic inclusions, you could call it spangle glass. Could be American, English, or Bohemian (or...?). Very pretty!

Nice one Rose, I agree with Shannon, late 19th or early 20th century - even older than you  ;D. One of those we may never know where, although I'd lean more towards Bohemia

THANKS Lustrousstone.......Are you sure YOU REALLY KNOW my AGE?  :D

Why the FIVE legs??

I should have taken a pix of the inside.....as it is kinda a thick white colored glass (if that makes any difference) BUT your NOT sure exactly what this glass is defined as yet.  Is it safe (??) to say *VICTORIAN* here?

POSSIBLY, an *ANTIQUE* then........(said Antiquerose123....lol ).

FINALLY, living up to MY NAME.     :hiclp:  :hiclp:

You know I know your age Rose!

This style was made in England from the mid-19th century to about the beginning of the 20th century and longer in Bohemia - they went on reusing designs as long as they sold well. It can ONLY be described as Victorian if we know it was made in England. It could be anything from 150 years old to 80 years old. Unless we find it in a catalogue we will never be able to define it any better. The white inner casing is common, it gives depth to the colours and hides the flower stems. It has five feet because odd numbers of things are said to be aesthetically more pleasing than even numbers and three feet would be a bit unstable.

Is the top ground flat or has it got slightly rounded edges? Ground is not bad BTW.

Rose, it's what is called either a 'thorn' vase or a 'rustic' vase, and I've got something very similar in plain green (but NOT uranium!).  However I have no idea if it's Victorian or later, and if it's English or Bohemian!  Like Christine, I think it's one of those things you can't ever decide.  In those colours they are sometimes called 'end-of-day' or 'spatter glass'.   Have you tried trawling through this site?  I did, but while I found similar there was nothing exactly like yours (or mine!)  http://home.earthlink.net/~verredart1/glass/

 :hiclp: Thanks Leni, and everybody.

See that's what is so great about the forum.  I spent the whole night *googling* all sorts of different things.  Could NOT even get close - even made up a few more *descriptive words* both to google, and to say under my breath.......lol......BUT NO LUCK...

Now today - One simple word THORN VASE, and look what I found:

Ebay.co.uk:  110214781649  A VICTORIAN THORN VASE -- SAYS THESE ARE HAND BLOWN, VICTORIAN (1840 - 1900), and BRITISH

Examples there are of Vaseline/Uranium yellow glass.  I do not know if the one that I have glows, but I guess I could try.  Do you use a regular black light from any type of store.  I am not expecting it to glow -- but will check...

Do you think this is a close match for us?  I think pretty darn close, and they have FIVE LEGS TOO.  How about your's LENI ?  Is this like yours too.  Post a Pic here of yours, so that we have a couple examples here on board.....Ok.  Let us know..

SEE TWO (or three, four, five, six, etc.,) HEADS -- ARE ALWAYS BETTER THAN ONE.   :chky: :hiclp:
