« on: February 07, 2008, 04:39:56 AM »
Hi, I just got this, and it does have a label.  Know nothing -- or IF new/old...but I like it.  ;) Any Info on it, or the Label?  Thanks.

** Some More pixs....and of Label.  I put some tape on to hold it there - for good.

Also, by the "M" -- there are another two smaller letters going horizontal.  The two letters are "AS" also in the label, same coloring as bigger wording is.  I do not know if you can see, or not...

I think that the label is in Murano label file. I believe it's an import label. It's shown in twice in the file, both times with Galliano Ferro labels, but I remember seeing it on a piece by another company's, too. I had thought that it might be a precursor of the Promovetro label.  The labels that I've seen seem to be on mainly 60's glass.

I have recently seen that label on a few different pieces.
Seen it on some Barbini pieces from the 60-70s, on Cenedese pieces, G.F. pieces, Venini, and even Barovier pieces... I think its part of an import label/or specific company that sent the pieces out. It doesnt seen to be of any particular glass house (Barbini, etc.). I think if you follow the letters on the side, it could correspond to a year?
I have tried to look into that, but its really hard to find out, specially since some designs cross over from the 50-60-70s. Also the labels might have been put there years after the items were made, like sometimes happens, things get stored and resold at later times by a gallery, etc.

I looked at the labels, but did not see this one.  Am I blind....or is label needed/or wanted?  THXS

Here it is Rose: http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-1910

See I did miss it...

I note there that SVAZZO has the initials *AF* by the *M*....mine has the initials *AS*.  I wonder if there is anyway to figure out what these mean, or find on the net.

That would be interesting fact....THXS

Antiquerose, very interesting. Here's a Barbini one that has "AQ". Does anyone know the significance of the letters?

The different letters on each of the labels are leading me back to my vague memory that the label could have been a precursor of the current Promovetro label, where each of the companies involved have a different number on a standard label. The number of companies using this label  (GF, Venini, Cenedese, Barbini, Barovier) seems like too many companies for one importer.
