Chinese whites - a variation
« on: February 09, 2008, 04:33:05 PM »
Just received these. A very cheap ebay purchase. The painting is clearly Chinese and done in the same style as the normal chinese white, but it is done on the base of the glass,(ie back painted)  the base being deeply concave.  The glass is about 2.5 inch diameter and quite shallow.

Does anyone have any background about these sorts of weights
Martin

I have seen that kind of work on the inside of snuff bottles, from quite early (18th century) through to current day, very fine and delicate.

Not sure about your paperweights though sorry...
Thank you very much!
