Selkirk Paperweights 2005 ?
« on: February 12, 2008, 10:24:27 PM »
To my knowledge Selkirk was taken over by Caithness in 2004: were there paperweights produced later and marked Selkirk? Right now there are two paperweights being offered on ebay, marked "Selkirk 2005" according to the description (no picture), one being a limited edition:

Can anyone confirm that such weights were produced?

Yes, but I am sure someone more knowledgeable than me will be able to tell you more. A story that is needed on Scotland's Glass too  :ac1:

Have checked the Caithness Reflections magazine - and found only this mention: reflections 28 / page 13

On 1st Dec 2004, the Caithness Glass Company Ltd. was delighted to announce the acquisition of Selkirk Glass Ltd. [...] The acquisition will not lead to any changes at either Selkirk Glass or Caithness Glass and we will continue to independently produce the high quality paperweights for which both companies are world-famous.

Hi Wuff

I was in the Selkirk factory in August 2006 just a week before they closed.
They were still marketing weights under the Selkirk name then.

Best regards

Derek
