The link to the coffee maker in the British Museum in another thread lead me to the BM's online collection of Glass, and I'm just astounded by the complexity of the early designs of the Claw Beakers. Have a look at this - and wonder at it dating from the early 5th century (i.e. not long after 400 AD!) http://tinyurl.com/cnw5k (created as a Tinyurl as the real URL is extremely long and would cause the screen to scroll for miles!).
