Green Satin Painted Vase any idea who?
« on: March 01, 2008, 01:45:32 PM »
Hello All!

I have this green vase and I have searched and searched, but I still can not find the maker.

Measures about 7 1/2" tall and has a grounded bottom.

Any clues?

Thanks

Welcome to GMB.

I can't be sure, to be honest, but the base does look very modern.

Nice,
handpainted, but i would agree with David, the base looks ground and quite recent.
Where is your location? that may give a clue to someone.
Regards and welcome,
Andy

Reminds me of Fritz Heckert pieces, circa 1900.

Thank you all for taking the time to look at this Vase and thank you for the warm welcome  :)

It is true there is a possibility that this could be modern, but the reason I hesitated and picked this up is because of the painting on the vase.

For modern it seems a little too detailed.  Not to say that a modern artist could not have done this, but it is more unusual to see.

I am in the Eastern part of the United States.  Large German influence in the neighborhood where I picked this up.

Completely out of my element here, I usually am a stemware, American Brilliant Cut glass person.

Thanks for the tip on Fritz Heckert, I will do some research on his wares.

Is the glass actually green or is it green cased over clear or is the green painted on?

The glass itself is green.  Looks to be some sort of treatment applied to give it that satin look.

The decoration is reminiscent of Tole painting.

It will either be acid treatment or sandblasting, depending on age. It just that the base rim looked like clear glass. The rim seems rather odd.  How are the handles attached?
