Topic: Possible Chance/Goodden Ashtray? Or Scandinavian copy?

Graham Cooley kindly provided these photos of two blue ashtrays, which do appear similar to the Goodden-designed ones for Chance. Like the Chance ones, there is a trademark 'Orlik' (not Orlak!) embossed on the base.

Unlike the Chance type, this one features vertical ribbing on the outside. However, variations have been noted to the outside before. One further feature on the Chance one is the two grooves in the lip (see photo).

Only thing I don't have at present is the sizes, so perhaps Graham will provide these: Chance one is 5¾ x 4 x 2 high - or more precisely in cms: 14.7 x 10.3 x 4.8

The pipes of Cadogan were manufactured in many places disseminated around London and in Saint-Claude, but with the purchase of Orlik Pipe Co In 1980...

... indicating Orlik was in production before 1980.

The tradename is also associated with pipes, and these definitely have a longer history than 1990. It would appear these are English-made, so I may have made the wrong conclusion.

The only other links is Emil Orlik a Czech artist, or a town in the Czech Republic, but I did find some French-made handpainted glass, where the placename is also Orlik:

Hi David,

The dimensions are in cms: 14.7 x 10.3 x 4.8; so bang on target. The cigarrette holder grooves are the same on top but are hollow underneath. I've got a Chance Goodden one somewhere; I'll dig it out and shoot them together.

Whats your view on the two blue colours; I recognise the light blue as Chance Gooden but what about the dark blue?

The upstanding flutes (not grooves) along the cigarette holder are 1/4" (outside to outside) and 3/4" long ending with a tiny upstanding gully. This looks like a signature feature to me.
