Help Needed in Identifying Signature = Maastricht Holland
« on: March 08, 2008, 10:00:06 PM »
Hello,

Can anyone help me identify the signature on the base of this small Scandinavian glass bowl please?

The design of the piece is a blue swirl in clear glass. It has two signatures on the base of the piece - on opposite sides. One looks like it reads 'Maastrict' and opposite to this it appears to read 'Holland' (could it be Hugland?)

Thank you in advance,

Wesley

Your bowl is probably by Max Verboeket ,chief designer at Maastricht  circa 1950s 1960s.
Ive got a few nice pieces by him, he was quite prolific,so his pieces are not difficult to find,
quite collectable, but affordable, theres usually 1 or 2 on ebay.

Maybe someone may move this to the general Glass board as its not Scandi.

Cheers
Andy :D

These were sold by V&D the Dutch chain of household goods, until 1972.  The sig would read `Max Verboeket Maastricht ` he was the chief designer at Kristalunie until Maastricht went under. These ashtrays are not rare in Holland and will bring maybe 10 to 15 Euros.
