Little AURENE Blue Green Dimpled Vase - ID: Loetz Diaspora
« on: March 21, 2008, 07:11:45 AM »
Hi everyone.
I just got this little piece along with an auction of small vases, and wanted to know who made it.
Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you so much for the link!
The piece is a little less than 4" tall.
What do you think I could expect at auction?

I assume it isn't glare, but the finish on yours looks like Creta (green) Silberiris (silver) Diaspora, which should do pretty well - are you listing it on eBay, or at a live auction? Ebay stinks for sellers right now, but at a live auction, I would think around $200-$250, depending on how many are interested.

The inside color is Green, but the outside iridescence is Blue.
I think it looks more green because I took the photo in front of my window with light coming in.
Is the name given by the inside glass color only? and the Silberiris (silver) can be blue?

I think the Creta (green) always refers to the base color of the glass - I have also seen Blau (Blue), and a few others. The iridescense on the outside will reflect a multitude of colors, including blue, but the exterior treatment is called (I think) silber (silver) or silberiris. Diaspora refers to the method of glass production (the texture), which is part of the overall decor. These are logical assumptions on my part - I'm sure there is something in the texts that explain it more precisely.
