Glass Mushroom Identification

(1/1)

zidori:
This outstanding example stands 4 and 1/4 inches tall and the cap is 3 and 1/2 inches in diameter. It is extremely heavy and I have included a base pic to show the construction method. It does not look like the mushrooms I have seen or bought before including Mdina, Wedgwood and Murano being that much bigger with cased glass finish. I would appreciate any help in identifying the maker.
Regards
Ronnie

:D I'm sure I saw a similar one described as Avondale. Have a look at the picture at the top of this thread.

zidori:
Thank you Sue for your response and for the pic to refer to.
From the picture I wouldn't say that my one was Avondale.
In fact, my one looks a bit like the Wedgwood only slightly bigger and not obviously etched to the base as the Wedgwood ones are. Did Stennett-Willson produce mushroom paperweights at his Kings Lynn factory? I know that there are paperweights and candlesticks which match the later  Wedgwood versions but, being unmarked, are attributable to the Kings Lynn factory.

chopin-liszt:
:D Hi Ronnie, It was the clear/plain rim round the edge that made me think perhaps Avondale, but the look of yours is not inconsistent with Wedgwood either. :D

zidori:
I see where you're coming from Sue and it is possible. I feel that the colouring and style of the respective caps are quite different with the Avondale one being much more "realistic" in design. I'll continue my trawl through the internet in the hopes of solving the problem. Thanks for taking the time to help.
Regards
Ronnie
