The "base wear" looks to me to be simple grinding resulting in ovals at the base of the "ridges" and each oval appears to be of a consistent matte finish, which I would not expect from ordinary wear. But maybe not ....?

There has been grinding to make it sit level, which is normal. If it was contemporary, I would expect it to have been blown into a nice flat based mould and not finished on a punty - too much work there

I don't see the connection..why would u expect a contemporary hand blown piece to come out of a mold?  ::)

too much work? most if not all hand blown pieces are finshed on a punty...polishing a pontil can be done in a minute.... 8)

Kev,
I know what you mean, Christine is right, its been ground to make it sit level, but theres
extra age wear from dust and grit and stuff. Its old!
This may help, but its as close as i can get!

Oh , and it took 10 minutes swirling with magic balls, strong detergent, to clean inside of grime/rust etc!

Nice wear there Andy. However old it is it is still mould blown - it has to be to get those ribs. If it was a modern version of an old item (note similarity to Loetz Texas), I would expect it to be one requiring less work

I thought id bump this up again, as there are many new members on the board,
also, Im thinking , maybe its English ??
There is no irridescence which i would expect on Bohemian, and the green was popular
with English makers c 1900. (im happy with the vase having a good age to it)

Anyone have any (more) ideas.

Cheers
Andy
(maybe a moderator could add English? to the heading.)

Not Bohemian, not Czech and not Loetz, Kralik or Harrach. Probably not very old.
