Topic: Swan or Duck Bowl ? - ID = J.I Co. (Jordan's Importing) No. 9002

   bought this along with the Whitefriar vase i posted, can anyone tell me if it is a swan or a duck, or even a goose?
It has a amber head and base with green upper body and wings,the pontil as some wear and is ground.

Inside this glas is the pontil which is polished would this have been broke off from there, and not underneath? Czech would you say or Scandi. please dont say murano as it seems when i think that im totaly wrong, height of the head is 6ins wing span 8.5ins from tip to tip, nape of neck to tip of tail is 8.5ins.

one wing higher than the other.thanks for any help in the ID

Hi, it's a stylised bird - I don't think it's an anatomical representation of any particular species so I personally wouldn't get hung up on trying to pin it down more than that.  Nice colours btw.

Has a look of Chalet about it.  Did they do birds?   

Is there any uranium in that green?  It's a very effective use of the colour combination!

          No Uranium in the green the photo's dont really do this piece jutice the colours are very vibrant and change in the sunlight, (Chalet?)

the colours go from amber to yellow from dark green to lime. and feels nice to the touch,

It's Murano glass from the 50's or 60's - Imported by J.I. Co (Jordan's Importing Company).

                Thank you. can i ask how you know this please, do you have or had a piece like this, i have been getting most of this sort of glass from one sorce and have bee told by him that it,s 50s 60s or there about's but he seems to say this to any glass  .

Would you say it is a bowl or a ciggie holder, what ever it as a nice feel to it, very smooth,

I've seen a few with labels (mostly on ebay). J.I. Co designed and imported Murano glass in the 50's and  60's.

           Cheers for the info much appreciated, it's gone into hibernation at the moment a box ready for the move. i suppose i will never find out just what work shop  well maybe one day.

Have a little hope that this might be a Salviati bird bowl as it is i have found out to be the typical murano colours, and the JI co closed in the 1970s so Shannon looks as though you are bang on the button with whom imported it, from Italy,

I don't want to dampen your hope, but it doesn't look like Salviati. I would say that Shandiane is right about the JI Co attribution.
