Walther "Diamant" & Mystery Set #1
« on: June 28, 2010, 03:54:32 PM »
In the 1934 Walther Musterbuch on pressglas-korrespondenz there is a lidded pot (page 16) and a candlestick (page 18) shown as pattern "Diamant", which appears to match one of the mysteries we have on the trinket set site here: Mystery Set 1. The catalogue image makes the pot look square or diamond shaped but the pots that TC has and that I have are triangular but are the same pattern (so two together would make a diamond shape.) The candlestick TC has is diamond shaped, and the tray is diamond shaped with the two side points cut off so it has 6 sides. Confusing, isn't it?

"Diamant" isn't shown in the 1931, 1933, 1935 or 1937 Walther catalogues on Pamela's Glas-Musterbuch website nor does Pamela have any examples of this pattern in the Pressglas-Pavillon website, so can anyone tell me if this was a short-lived pattern or anything else about it, or does anyone have examples in other colours which we could have photos of for the website please?

Still trying to identify this set, which I picked up a clear candlestick for today. Tigerchips has the same set in amber with this fab tray.  The candlestick seems to be a match for Walther Diamant pattern, but the Diamant pot shown in the 1934 catalogue appears to be a four side one with a square finial, whilst these are three sided with a triangular finial.
