What unusual pieces - I've really enjoyed seeing everyones Higgins glass.

I really REALLY like the General Electric clock on CathyG's site...I'd very much like one of those!  Are they terribly expensive?  And do they come up for sale very often??

Heres my one piece that has arrived so far, a little ash tray in "Barbaric Jewels" pattern. Really nice as the jewels are all raised.

WOW!!!  What a funky piece of glass Paul!  And just love everyone else's Higgins pieces

I'm intrigued as to how your ashtray is made Paul?   Are the gold patterns actually inside the glass or applied underneath? or screen printed???
Regards - Anne E.B.

It's great stuff and I've got the bug a bit, made of fused glass so the gold is inside. Only wish I could find it in this country as waiting for pieces from across the pond to arrive makes me sooo impatient.

Max...the General electric clocks are scarce and very expensive. The last one I saw sell on ebay, went for 1,800.00. After I bought that clock I was lucky enough to also get the December 1954 issue of Better Homes and Garden with the ad for it. Keep looking, you never know what you can find! Higgins is a tough one because most pieces are signed except that clock, single rondelay's and ornaments, so you have a shot at finding one cheap! Just like blenko...depending on the pattern (or for blenko it would be the design) and year it was made will determine the value.

Paul...the steamship piece belongs to someone else. That's one of the things I love about higgins, something for everyone.

Anne, I can tell you that the gold is applied last, how I am not sure, and then the pc is fired. So the gold sits on top. Terry

OMG Cathy!  I won't be getting on of those then!  :(   You're right though, you never know what you're going to find online - and I might get lucky as it isn't signed.   Meanwhile, I'll keep dreaming!

Not sure how to add links, but check out eBay item 7341466410 in U.S.  This is one of five gorgeous Higgins' pieces for auction.  The seller adds some interesting information, having actually met/seen Higgins at work.
