i think so too, Andy. if i had to bet on a maker (which i'm loathe to do) i'd go with Formia. i've had vases in my hands with the same kind of aventurine (mottled bits of shimmery, golden tan; pearlescent gold and sparkling, glittery copper in a black base), one with a Formia label. i've not seen the same combination in a piece labeled else wise.

i'll try to come up with some pictures to post in support of the Formia theory over the next couple of days. weekends my dh is home so i can't/won't log the hours i would normally devote to research. i had a few pics of the labeled vase i mentioned but they were lost (along with thousands of other images and hundreds of bookmarks) when my last computer when kapoot.  :cry:

Forget Formia. The vase at issue was made by Dalian.

I have to agree with Ivo and Bidda.
The Nason stuff is from the 60's / 70's and is done with finesse.
The splodgy, sludgy,  slurry, smeary Dalian stuff is slap dash, without artistry, of inferior quality and probably more recent.
The devil is in the detail.
Collectors (en masse) will eventually learn to tell the difference even if that the moment they can't.
As to Formia, I have a theory which I am not able to prove as yet so will stay quiet.
