I.D. of studio glass "Cylinder" vase
« on: April 25, 2008, 06:28:11 PM »

Can anyone help identify the maker of this studio glass please?

It is exactly 6 inches tall (and 2.5 inches wide) so hopefully, rather than being a one-off, it is a production pattern with the possibility of brothers or sisters in existence out there.

It is made up of purple coloured blobs with a thick orangey swirl running top to bottom around the outside and cased in clear glass.  There is the odd air bubble found in the glass.

The base has been ground flat but retains the broken-off pontil mark.  (There is no maker's mark of any kind).

Does the purple and orange colour scheme suggest an early 1970s date - or not?

Regards,
Chris.

Mdina? If it is Mdina, would this be called Tortoiseshell?
