« on: May 08, 2008, 05:34:45 PM »
Bought just in this moment this piece on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=320245188709&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=011

Label says Seguso, but I was just wondering if Seguso made anything similar like this piece??
Never seen this before...

Has anyone ideas???

The label looks like an Archimede Seguso label. The color seems a little off, but it may just be the color balance. The shape and lettering look right. The vase doesn't look like barbarico to me. It looks more like a corroso type finish. I am inclined to trust the label. It looks like it still has a ghost of where the label wore away. That hints to me that the label is original. If so, then Archimede would most likely be right.

The seller used a bad translation software ;)
In german she wrote, that the surface ist overlaid with bursted oxides. I give you right, the photos seems to me like a corroso style too.
The base and the label have a lot of wear so I also think, that it is old and real.
Hope that I will get this vase fast... I am very
curious... :)

Maybe it is an ossidio finish. I think that is how it is spelled. I have seen a Fratelli Toso vase with this type of finish. Your vase did remind me of it, but the scavo or corroso look of yours was different. I know you'll be able to tell us more when you have it in hand.

Your vase looks familiar, but I can't remember where I have seen it before. Maybe I can track it down.

I just checked the Toso ossidio vase. The surface does not look anything like your vase, so I think it is safe to scrap that idea. The ossidio surface is smooth with the metal oxidized on the surface, so it lays like gold leaf on the outside. There was no rough look.

There is a lot of education in every new piece of glass. It is so enjoyable to learn the differences.
