Peacock paperweight

I know that paperweights like
this one
are not Caithness, but Chinese, and that they come in several colours. But does anyone know when they were made, or first appeared on the market?

I know they are made by Zibo Zhaohai in Shandong but i do not know since when. I talked to these people in 1999 on a trade fair, and they were definitely in the collection then.

Thanks Ivo. I didn't realise they were that recent. I'm sure they must have been producing them for some time.

I sent the seller a note that it was made by Zibo Zhaohai without mentioning China
it will be interesting if he adds it to the auction.

He added the note, I wonder what the impact on sales will be... considering it is broken anyway!

When I first began collecting paperweights, I had a couple of these Chinese peacock works. This would have been in the late 1970s; therefore, they go back at least that far. I would write that it is safe to call these 1970s paperweights, at least.
