Enormous Red Vase - poss. Aseda? help ID please
« on: May 14, 2008, 05:02:28 PM »
Hi again, hubby came home with this the other day.  It's absolutely HUGE at 19in/48.5cm and has fairly significant base wear - it had lots of dead spiders in it also - eeeeeeek!  The colour is very like the tomatoey red of Aseda rather than the ruby red of Riihimaki.  Does anyone have any idea who may have made this and if it's as old as the base wear would suggest?  We're thinking 1970s Aseda (Sweden) purely based on the colour however it's not an Aseda form or size we've encountered before.

Any help would be hugely appreciated, TIA.

I wonder if I could just ask again about this vase?  Unfortunately the day I posted this on the board there was an avalanche of new ID requests and it got slung off the edge of the page within hours of being posted so I'm not even sure many people saw it at the time.

Anne, if this is considered to be a case of shameless bumping please don't hesitate to delete it - I totally understand!

I might be wrong, but I think I saw these in Habitat about 7/8 years ago.

You could well be right Robert!  Although the base wear is fairly heavy for a new(ish) vase it's a big lump 'o' glass and it might well have been moved around a lot in that time...  Thanks for your input, much appreciated.
