Yes it is identical in colour to my bowl only mine isn't guilded in gold just etched into the glass, maybe gold ones were presented to more important buffalo people...lol

Thanks, I see they call it etched too. Perhaps there is a need for a 101 on how to distinguish the different methods of decoration.

Could someone post a close-up of their buffalo?  From what I see, it doesn't look like an engraving.  That doesn't mean it isn't, but engravings have typical shapes because of the wheels used.  I'd like to see more detail.


There's heaps (do you say "heaps" in the UK?  That's an Aussie expression) of cut/engraved glass listed on ebay as etched.  I don't really understand it.

Looks like that section of the gallery could use some padding!  The one photo there doesn't tell what finish it is, Anne!   Sandblasting, right?  That's a great photo, shows the graininess to it, so it's distinguishable from etching.  I have lots of photos of etching and engraving, different types of enameling - should I put a few directly in the gallery?  Are they linked to a thread or anything?

Even after looking at the site, I didn't get a very good idea of their aims, or what held them together.  Is it possible to sum it up for us?

It's a (grown-up physically) boys club on the lines of freemasonry.  So a "You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" type of thing obscured by dressing up and secret oaths and other adolescent fantasies played out.
