Topic: just curious really, who makes these great big PWs

I know its modern , and probably from John Lewis, TK Maxx or somewhere, but curious as to
where these big weights are probably made??
Outweighs my scales, prob 4kg, 6 inches x 6 inches.
Lovely deep blue and big bubbles.

Saw these being sold in the Heart Foundation shop as boxed new items at Christmas, Andy. They were huge - about 6" diameter and too heavy to hold for long. No source marked on them sadly.

When sold here in the United States, those giant paperweights are usually marked Made In The PRC (People's Republic Of China) and are available almost only at AJ Wright and TJ Maxx for $9.99 (USD) each. Sometmes they have a Made In China label. Colors I've seen are blue flash and orange flash, or clear; all with bubbles. They also make them with no color flash but with bubbles and floating bits of canes or color globs, or sometimes with no color flash and with bubbles and little fishes on top.

Mine weighs in at 8 lbs., 8.3 ozs. It stands at about 6 inches high and almost as wide. In the image with the price tag, you'll notice a small oval sticker that is the manufacturer's mark - It is a stylized IL. The price tag details that one should Compare At $18.00.

IKEA sells weights similar to this, huge, single color, random internal bubbles.
Called Mäkta, they come in six colors, diameter 9 cm's - so smaller than this one.

Six by six inches - that's big

I have a big red one just under six inches in diameter. It's a nice deep red with a ring shaped bubble in it. it's my favourite Chi weight partly due to the size and mostly because of the color.

The State (China) provides subsidies for transportation (bus), health care (free universal coverage), rent (the government owns almost all of the property), raw materials, food (farm subsidies), and wages are very, very low. Additionally, there is no lead in Chinese glass, thus reducing the cost of making it, although they do have lead in their paint.

I found a couple more of those monster weights. The red one is my old one, just under six inches in diameter. The large clear one is about eight inches and must weigh more than thirty pounds. It's certainly heavier than a bowling ball. It's the biggest paperweight I have ever run across -more like a doorstop -for a garage.

These had China stickers.

I would love to find a red one the size of the clear one

Would look good as a garden ornament I suspect.
