Topic: signed mushroom vase

Hello,

Could anyone help me identify the signature on this delightful glass mushroom vase? Measuring approx 8 inches in height and 9 inches in diameter, it is signed to the base and dated 1979. I don't even know where to start to research it!

Hi Wes, it looks like Eisch 79 to me. Googling brings up http://www.eisch.de/ and a mention of them elsewhere states

Erwin Eisch's freely blown glass series called "Poetry in glass" was created in 1977 ...  in flowing shapes ... designed into many-coloured objects...

so that sounds like a hopeful direction to look in. Eisch.de has a contact form and email address so it'd be worth asking them for confirmation of the sig being theirs.

An update thanks to the information given to me by Anne.

I contacted www.eisch.de and asked them for some further information and in true German efficient fashion they supplied the following information:

"this vase was made in 1979 in the Glashütte Eisch. It is a piece of a  unique -collection named “Poesie in Glass” which was very popular during the 80ies and 90ies. The line was made after the design of Erwin Eisch by a special group of experienced glassblowers who worked close together with Erwin Eisch. The pieces of Erwin Eisch which he made personally are especially signed. Attached please find a file with further informations.

The only thing I am still not sure of is if this is a piece crafted by Erwin Eisch in person.

its still not clear, whether its a piece he made himself, it is signed is script,
I have an Eisch vase which has Eisch in a generic etched mark, i will get the camera out!

a bit faint,  I would think hes a good investment for the future.

After seeing some of his work, I think I might look out for it and get myself a little collection together
