Just picked this Holmegaard bowl up today Can anyone tell me what the squiggle and numbers on the base mean, please?
Your vase is called "Menuet" popular name "Hjertevase" heart vase and is from the "Smoke range" which is designed by Per Lütken and Christer Holmgren in 1960. It is based on items from "Aqua range" designed by Per Lütken in 1955 (some items in Aqua range is from 1953) and went out of production in 1974.
The smoke Menuet vases comes in 4 sizes Kastrup Holmegaard katalog number 160143 12 cm - 160135 10 cm - 160127 8 cm and 160119 5,5 cm.
Some items to thise series do not have names to items but some have - Umanak vases - Menuet vases - Duckling vases - Rondo vases - Hellas vases - Thule vases and bowls - Fiona bowls and ashtray - Selandia bowl.
