1980s Bertil Vallien "Optic" Bowl (or not?)
« on: June 14, 2008, 03:11:06 PM »
I always thought this bowl was 1940s Tiffin "Optic" until much to my surprise I found it pictured in a catalogue/book titled "Swedish Glass Awarded Design" from 1984.  The picture and description match perfectly, but my piece is unsigned.  Kosta Boda are always so good about signing their work; my guess is that this bowl (winner in category "utility and ornamental glassware") may have had a long lost sticker.  Can anyone help me to positively identify, and to tell me the name of the piece or series from which it came?
Thanks,
Charles.

It looks like Impressions by Bengt Edenfalk, which had bowls 4", 5", and 6" in height. I can't be sure from the photograph, but I'm assuming from your use of the word "optic" that your bowl has something like little concave depressions, which is a feature of Impressions. If not, sorry!
