It didn't have that look or feel that I normally associate with a coating, Sue...   I honestly thought it was cased!  :-[

Mind you it was 10 years ago and I have learned a bit more about glass since then...  ;D

Hi all
Just to add - I had some red glass tealight holders that I really thought were red glass - they looked a bit dusty and waxy so I put them in the dishwasher (don't worry, I wouldn't dream of putting any decent glass in there) - they came out clear glass, with flakes of red stuff everywhere!  ::)

My son bought what looked like a black cased clear tealight holder (in ASDA), and the coating floated off that too when he washed it, Roberta!

It all just goes to show that getting clean isn't always as good as it is cracked up to be.  ;)

I did put an old Scottish Fern vase into the dishwasher many years ago.
I had thought it was just a pint tumbler somebody had doodled on with a dremmely thingy at home. :-[
