Uranium, pearline? dimpled large vases
« on: June 27, 2008, 11:03:22 AM »
I wanted to find out about these myself, but I've had no joy.  I can't even find anything terribly similar really.   :'(

They're 30cm tall, and a pair I guess, as I found them together and they're so similar although not identical.  Satin finish, all vaseline/uranium body with a pearline top.  There's no real irridescence, although it does look a little like it in some lights.  Small, neat concave pontil mark to base, no other identification there.

I toyed with the idea of Rinsdkopf and Loetz (alright!  Way off the mark I expect!) and although I did find something slightly vaguely similar on Mike Moir's site, it was too much of an obscure (for me) designer for me to track down.

Are they simply Stourbridge-type Victorian vases?  Or something else?  Then don't seem typical...  :P

Note:  I am skint at the moment, so could be selling these.  :-\ There will be the usual 'Big thanks to the Glass Message Board' if I list them.

Edit:  Both vases have dimples, only one is less pronounced.

I think Powell is a good possibility.  They look like nice Stourbridge straw opal to me.

Thanks Mr Vaseline Glass.  :)

It'd be nice if they were Powell, but I'm not sure about the satin finish...definitely worth a heads up for me though and I'll check it out, thank you.  I suppose if that doesn't work out, then it might have to be Strourbridge area generally.  :)
