Purple sloping bowl with polished pontil mark
« on: June 30, 2008, 09:30:42 AM »
I would be grateful for help identifying this purple bowl.  It has a thick, rim which looks as if it has been doubled over, and a polished out pontil mark.  I wondered if it might be Scandi, but that's just a guess.  I keep feeling as if I've seen something like it before, but I just can't place it  :-\

Thank you.

Sorry, I forgot to say it's 10 & 1/4 inches long by 8 inches wide (26cm x 20cm) and 4 inches (10cm) high at the higher end.

Ikea, I think. Frustratingly, my Ikea catalogue pile starts from 2006, and I think this design - if it is Ikea - stopped c.2004/2005.

Thank you, Nic.  I admit I don't know much about Ikea.  Is it known who actually made the bowls for them?

I think most of their glass is outsourced to China these days.
