Probably terribly standard fare, but then this really isn't my area. The canes contain either stars or free-floating circles, and have a concentric bubble pattern in-between. H=230mm D=55mm.

Frank... There are larger photos available, if they're of any use to you.

Hi Frank & Nic,
If you have the time please could you have a look at this thread for me -I would be very interested to know how your stems are finished.  Many thanks.

Mine is fire-polished.

Bubbles, what is it that you think you been unlucky about?

The Vasart (& Starthearn?) solifleur vases have a standard, small paperweight as the base. The paperweights, of various sizes, were finshed in a variety of ways. Some were fire polished to a very smooth finish, others were fire polished to a degree that got rid of sharpness and roughness but still left "undulations"; others were ground out in a fairly simple way.

If you show a couple of photos of your "unlucky" item, with standard view showing canes and a view of the base, maybe further comment could be made.

It's the finish of the "vase" top edges Pat is interested in.

Aaaah! Thanks Christine. Trouble is, when it comes to things with paperweight bits, I tend to always associate "finishing" with the base of the paperweight part.

So, just for confirmation, is Nic's "fire-polished" relating to the rim edge?
