Is it Murano? ID help Please!
« on: July 12, 2008, 10:22:35 AM »

   Hi,

I bought 2 Mdina bowls as a gift for my sister at a boot fair about 3 years ago, and the stallholder 'threw in' this unknown bowl as a freebie!

it measures 7.25"(18.5cm) by 6"(15cm) with two folded in 'thumbgrips?' underneath its milky white and appears to be thinly cased in clear glass.weighs about 800g.

   any ideas? Murano?Chinese??!!

      TIA

      John

I'm sure you can get enthousiastic in your description (well you can try!) , and there may be someone, somewhere in this world who wants it really bad.... I think it is 1970s pining for the fifties and I do not think there are a lot of collectors to drive the price. But you never know....

Could it be by Dino Martens?

Have seen several similar looking bowls on e-bay described as by Dino Martens for AVEM, is this a candidate? I can always hope!

Steady on! There are a lot of cats on this board (by proxy) who would be mortified to think that their carefully prepared "offerings" were being compared to this!  ;D

It can be very offputting to inexperienced members like myself receiving comments that seem to make fun of my lack of knowledge, the last time this happened I didn't visit the boards for over a year, seems nothings changed
    cheers guys!
