Topic: Help PLEASE, my Husband is obsessed & Driving me insane

My husbands obsession with this paperweight is driving me insane, he thinks that because it belonged to his father (my Husband is 46), and that his father bought it decades ago it must be somthing, I disagree of course I could be wrong. I came across a Vintage Joe St Clair and just the other day he found a signed Baccarat but is he happy, no, he wont let this go till he finds something out about it.

The really well known family as a matter of fact I have a gorgous clock from Murano, I am a huge collector of art glass and we also have quite a few paperweights we know nothing about except the ones that have Joe St Clair and Baccarat on the base, how do you begin to try and identify origin and maker?. Identifying a specific Murano maker is tough since they all buy their cane from a common supplier. So they all use the same cane. The only way to tell differences is for a unique design peculiar to one maker or if a mkaer bundles the canes together to form another more complex cane that is specific to that maker. And that is something which I have not yet mastered.

The canes in that weight are by Fratelli Toso. The scattered arrangement of the canes was something FT did. The large bundle of canes at the top is a variation I have not seen before.

About that signed Baccarat. You may want an expert opinion on it. There are a lot of Murano and Czech paperweights around that have Baccarat signatures.
