"Daysun" labeled vase. Who may have made it
« on: August 10, 2008, 09:56:35 AM »
I got this vase in a job lot last week and I wonder if anyone can ID it for me.

Its cased and very colourful to say the least, but on the base is a very worn red foil oval label which reads "Dayson Foreign" in gold.

Hi Frank,

I think it is sun, but it is very worn.

Maybe Chinese?

Hi Barbara,
I think Chinese is most likely.

Any chance of a picture of the label please?  The shape sometimes gives a clue.

Hiya, I posted up a vase with the same label on it a couple of years ago ... here's a link to my thread for your information.

I would speculate, given the label style and the lack of country but inclusion of foreign, that these are probably 40s/50s/60s imports rather than modern production

Many thanks for all your help,

I agree that it very well maybe Chinese,in the popular Murano style, copying the Scandinavian Art Glass of the era  >:D  ;D

(Think I got them all in, a la eBay)

It will be off to a new home with my eldest child soon, but to be honest, it is VERY tacky.

The L&E uranium vase that came with it is much nicer  ;)
