Lynn:  My book has more pictures of Primrose Pearline (in color, too!) than any other book ever written, including books by Raymond Slack, Jenny Thompson, Sheilagh Murray, the new Davidson book from Chris & Val Stewart, Lattimore, Wakefield, or Hadjamach.  I just did a quick count, and there are no fewer than 110 in color and 3 in black and white.  Those are just the Davidson pieces.  There are a few by Burtles, Tate;  Greener, and Sowerby too.

It's well-worth having as there's loads of info in it about patterns, designs and colours.

Anne:  I have read Chris and Val's book and as a general source of information for 'all things Davidson', it is a good text.  However, if memory serves me correctly, there is only a couple of pictures of primrose pearline in the book, and doesn't give specifics or show examples of the various patterns and shapes made during the PEARLINE period.  The majority of the book focuses on Cloud Glass, and is an excellent resource for that subject.

Thanks both!  I shall have a look at both...I can't seem to find Dave's book here in the UK, so would have to import from the US...

Hi Dave, Chris and Val's book doesn't focus on cloud glass, it covers the whole of Davidson's output from the earliest designs until closure. It does not have as many pictures of pearline specifically, but it does have a listing of pattern numbers and registered design numbers in the back, and the text does explain which patterns were made in pearline.  As someone interested in English pressed glass (rather than specifically pearline) I find it very useful, as I would suspect would Lynne from her dealer perspective.

I have only one piece of pearline sadly... but it is a beauty.

Lynne:  you can find my book on ebay, but postage will cost you.  my book is out of print, so you won't find one at any bookstore, anywhere.  The publisher went out of business (Antique Publications) and all surplus stock was sold to a book wholesaler in Idaho/USA.  The copies found on ebay are from the wholesaler.  I have to get my copies from that source too.

Anne:  I did not know Lynne was a dealer.  I made the wrong assumption that her interest was from a collector viewpoint.

Sorry Dave, I hope that didn't upset you?  I do have a link to my auctions at the bottom of each post so that people replying know that I am a seller rather than a collector.  But I do like to be as careful in my attributions as possible, I hate just guessing...
