Art deco style four-legged pressed glass vase - ID = Nemsova
« on: August 28, 2008, 11:41:52 AM »
This is a beauty! Was filthy dirty when rescued, but has absolutely no damage, and has washed up wonderfully.

Height: 6" (150mm) top diameter: 5" (120mm)

Polished bottoms to the feet, feet have chamfered edges (see third picture.)

I looked through Glen's Sowerby CDs, Angela's Bagley book, and Chris's Davidson book and can't see it anywhere. I'm thinking it could be Czech rather than English. Any thoughts, suggestions etc. welcome. Thanks. :)

Probably not connected in any way ::), but the feet remind me of the three legged candlestick that Marcus ID'd recently as Libochovice.

Being a bear of little brain, my tuppenny-worth is:
Nemsova, pattern number 5066, probably originally designed whilst the factory was owned by Karel Schedlbauer. This vase could also be used as a plinth for the matching bowl, pattern number 5065, which had four holes to take the feet of the vase. However, this mould was amongst those transferred to Rosice in 1965.
Regards,
Marcus
