Orrefors stemware set with engraved stylised faces
« on: August 28, 2008, 09:40:59 PM »
Any ideas would be welcome on this set of Orrefors stemware.  Each has a different face engraved on it.  Approx. 6" high and very lightweight.  Labels on each one.  These don't feature in their current sales and I've been unable to find anything similar anywhere.
TIA :)

Hi Anne,
I would hazard a guess that they have been bought as blanks and then engraved later possibly here, http://www.glasgravoren.se/ a company which lies in the village of Orrefors. Unfortunately the English domaine has expired  :( .

Thank you :)  Interesting to see the engraver at work and the tool he uses.

Presumably this is where someone could take their glass to be personalised, may be with their own design and therefore my set could be a one-off?  I'm just guessing because its not in English ;D

Correct! They do some nice work, as you can see from the pictures.

The blanks should be from the 'Illusion' series by Nils Landberg. They show up in the Orrefors pricelists for 1999, 2001 and 2004, sans faces.

Edit: Still available on the current website.
