Is this a depression glass decanter ?
« on: September 05, 2008, 01:36:55 AM »
Hi
I got two bottles  in a box from an auction, they are cool looking but wondering if this was a decanter . I am pretty sure it is depression glass .It has air bubbles and seam marks. There is not markings to say it was made by someone. Thanks for taking the time to look. Kim

Can you repost the blue one into a separate new topic please Kim? That way it makes us easier to discuss each item, and once identified, to archive them to the right place. Thanks :)

Hi there,
The pictured item doesn't look like depression glass to me.
Cheers.

It looks like a fancy liqueur bottle that should have a wired-in cork

I think a photo of the bottom might help establish something. The pics need to be clearer though, as these are somewhat fuzzy. If your camera has a macro setting (usually shown by a little flower symbol) set it to that to get a clear closeup shot of the base.

Mexican perhaps, or Spanish?  Or Italian - reminds me of some Italian wine that came in a bottle-green fish-shaped bottle.  Not Depression, that's sure.  Well, maybe I'm speaking too soon about that, only being familiar with American Depression glass.  Is there also European glass that is called "Depression"?

Kim, where are you based?

Don't think so, but we are developing "Credit Crunch" glass! ;D
