Topic: Grapefruit dish maker unknown

I saw a dish like this in the Whitefriars 1948 catalog so at least now I know what it was used for, now I'm just wondering if anyone knows who made this one.     Thank you for looking!

Janice — Are you certain that it is not acid-etched with a maker's mark?   They can be very faint indeed.   One of my Webb bright polished acid-etched glasses has the mark so faint you can only see the curve of the final "D" in "ENGLAND", and then only in the right lighting conditions, and two others have no discernable mark at all.   I'm certain that the young ladies who did this refreshed the stamp from the acid-soaked pad, and then went down a whole line of glasses until the stamp was dry.

Could be Webb or Stuart, Janice. Check the bottom for a small feint acid-etched mark.

Hi,
I have checked them all over for a mark, there is no hint of one.  I know what you mean about the light acid marks, they are hard to find but these have nothing.  I forgot to post a picture of the bottom so here that is, the bottom is very smooth with a slight indent in the middle.  I don't have any information of Webb or Stuart, these are heavy crystal and ring like a bell with a slight tap.

Why they include some potters I don't know, perhaps they resold glass, or just sloppy editing. Not all were makers.

That list is overwhelming, but I did copy it for reference, thanks!  I did look at Replacements and Webb Corbett has two patterns that look like this but their pictures are terrible so I can't tell for sure, they are Francesca and Marquis.  I think now I'm safe in saying these, I have 2 of them, are English.   :hiclp:
