Is this definitely Murano - do you recognise the signature ?
« on: August 29, 2008, 10:15:46 PM »
I am new to this forum, but was hoping that one of you guys would recognise the attached signature or if you have seen a similar item before.
I picked this heavy solid paperweight up at a car boot but have been unable to establish any information about it.  Can you help?

the answer is no I do not recognise the signature - but the crystal piece of cheese is a Leerdam design and has been in production for many years. So either it is a blatant imitation by an unknown Murano maker - or it is a fake signature.
Here it is in the 1989 giftware catalogue, priced at 80 guilders (=36 Euros)

I have a little cat with a similar signature - I read it as Bottaro.

signature is here:

Seems very nice quality.  The cheese wedge is a frequently used motif in china, wood, metal, items so there is no reason that it should not appear from other makers in glass too I suppose.

Thank you very much!
