Frank & Andy — Apologies, I've just found this decanter, and I was wrong about the acid-etched mark (but, perhaps surprisingly, correct about the stopper number).
The factory mark actually reads "MADE IN / MG&S / ENGLAND", and is in small thin lettering with the "MADE IN" AND "ENGLAND" arranged in a circle like the Webb and E&L marks, etched on to the neatly ground out and polished pontil mark.
The cut pattern is similar but not identical to Andy's set of glasses
here, being a little simpler with no criss-cross infill between the stars.
Has anyone any ideas about "MG&S"?
