Be aware that paperweights bruise easily if knocked together.

A bag of paperweights? Bag? I hope they were well-wrapped. But good for you to be given paperweights. Tell us more. How many? Why did you only post this photo? To answer your question, the paperweight in question is contemporary Chinese.

*cringes* I do hope they were wrapped.

I'd like to see what other goodies were in the bag.
I collect Scottish and Italian paperweights and anything else that strikes my fancy.

That large reddish one is called a peacock paperweight. It's from China.

The little orangish-red and blue flowers and the blue one with what looks like some sort of animal and the orange strings are also from China.

All the years I was growing up I saw the others with the color swirls and the sprays and bubbles I know some of that type are made in India bbut whether or not all come from there I do not know.

Agreed. All contemporary (1970s - 1980s) and made in China or India. Very limited value.

Hi Sharon

There is one "better" weight I have spotted. It is in your second group picture with the peacock weight and three above it - the one on the right is a Caithness paperweight called Fleur. It was designed in 1987 by Colin Terris as an unlimited edition.

If its a first quality it will have "Caithness" "Fleur" and "Scotland" etched on the base and a number scratched on.

If it is a second quality it will have CIIG etched or scratched underneath or the base will be blank.

Best regards

Derek
