Scandinavian? Looking smoked vase
« on: October 13, 2008, 11:55:15 AM »
Sorry - just found one more thing from my weekend searching!  Measures around 30cm high (not with me at the moment), and is quite heavy.  I like the simplicity of it.

the shape is very similar to this Holmegaard vase - does this seem likely?

Neither vase are by Holmegaard. I'd be wary of taking attributions from that website - he sells on eBay, and until recently he listed *everything* that was cased glass as Holmegaard or Alsterfors, when it was clearly cheap Chinese or, at best, by one of the German firms.

It didnt seem right to me either, hence asking!  What about this one on Ebay 330274570517 - again similar style & colour but a guess by the seller!

I see no connection between those vases other than they're both either German or Swedish and grey with clear casing.

Fair enough, to me they are the same colour, style, height - just mine has a lip and the other one doesnt.

Hi... I have seen very similar vases to these in TK Maxx and seem to remember made in Poland stickers on them.
