Pamela now has sets with both types of finials on her Presglas site as Reich 1934

Type 1 Finial

Type 2 Finial

Having handled both types, my feeling is they may have updated Type 1 Finial as it is rather slippery and easy to drop, but that's just an idea.

Type 1 is the pattern 8975 listed in the 1934 Catalogue. All the other pieces appear to have remained the same.

I'd agree with Jayne's suggestion for a change to the design. They are both Reich but the one with the lower finial is fiddly to handle.
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd
