I had an email saying this is not authentic, it is one of two i have had for a while and both signatures are the same, the one i am keeping i KNOW came from the Isle of White and was given to me by my elderly next door neighbour, what do you think?

I would ask Sue Marshall, but it looks like it's good to me comparing with those in Mark Hill's book. Can you try for a better picture

I'd let people decide for themselves but it looks pretty good to me, now I've looked again

Hi Sue
I have checked this against Mark Hills book as well and it looks good to me.
The book also states - and I paraphrase .......that although Michaels
signature is not found very often - small paperweights are perhaps
the exception to the rule regarding Michaels thoughts on signatures
as there were considered very commercial items that were highly
appealing to studio visitors.
Another contact would be Ron Wheeler of Artius glass or of course you
could post the photo on the Isle of Wight forum for comment
Best regards
Derek
