I love this weight.  Can anyone tell me what they think in terms of age and country please?

Hi

I suspect Czech Republic or Austria, probably recent (in the last 25 years).  They have made this style of weight in 'Bohemia' (taken in its widest sense) for over 100 years, and are still making them.  The rather solid flowers, base treatment, lack of even small facets or embellishments point to recent rather than antique - but I am no expert!

Thanks Alan - well you are more expert than I am !

Quite a lot of uneven wear on the base, and some light wear around the sides - looks correct for a fair bit of age, I don't think it has been faked, but I take your point about the other pointers.

The glass casing has that pale turquoisey look that you sometimes get on Victorian dumps btw.
