Pino Signoretto statue.
« on: November 02, 2008, 10:36:23 AM »
I bought some months ago for £10 off eBay.

The signature is Pino Signoretto.

when i started researching this, i immediately got lost.
I found its most likely called "Amante" The Lovers. But, if you google that there are several different makers of the same, all slightly different.
Either coloured, different base etc.  :o

1st. Is there an original, by whom, where.

2nd. I haven't seen this finish to the surface of the glass before, can anyone tell me what its called.

3rd. the obvious one, the prices for the other makers vary greatly, roughly £100 to £350.
Any idea of the area this one would be in.
The more I tried to research it myself the more confused I got, not unusual for me.

thanks all.      :chky:

Excellent purchase at a great price. From what I have read, Pino Signoretto did the original and it was copied by others. The Signoretto pieces will be worth more than those with other names, but it is difficult to price his works. I am not an expert when it comes to surface technique, but the finish looks like a nice corroso to me. Maybe someone else will be able to say for sure.

Hi,
you did a great deal. For that kind of technique and product, Pino Signoretto is the to master glassmaker. I agree that it is pretty hard to give an exact value, due to he had made such kind of pieces in pretty large numbers, but compared with the several other producer, his sign ads something.
If for other master glassmakers these "amanti" sculptures are the usual production, for him these are really the entry level due to he is usually involved in much more complicate and expensive glassworks.

Sincerely

Alex

I can understand your mention of "entry level" Alex, his work is something else.

I have searched just about everywhere I can think of for an idea on price
I'm putting it on my site but haven't a clue what for,
I'll have to take the other prices into consideration, stick my finger in the air and have a guess.

I'm having another operation in December and I dearly hope my site will be up after then.
I'm starting to regret starting my own site, I ended up asking my x-wife to help.

thanks,  Anita and Alex

I'm leaving Venice now for a job trip, but when I'll be back, I will be glad to verify the "local market price" for such kind of items, if you think that it can help you.
Feel free to contact me for a reminder (I'll be back after the mid of Nov.)

Sincerely

Alex
