Small panel cut art deco bowl
« on: November 02, 2008, 05:49:52 PM »
ahoy!

digging into some old store boxes i re-discovered this small blue panel cut(?) bowl.
it was one of the first glass items i bought and i still find both shape and colour
intriguing. somehow - perhaps by the small fleabites around the rim - i have the
feeling that there's probably a lid missing.
i'm not really sure it will be worth investigating, but can anyone add information to
or correct my gut feeling saying:

art deco 1930
probably bohemian?

TIA

forgot - it's diameter is 9cm resp. 3.8"

I agree with Bohemian, panel-cut circa 1930. I also think it is as close as you'll get - unless you discover a Moser mark, of course.

thanks for confirming, Ivo!

it doesn't have a Moser mark sadly, but i'm nevertheless
still hoping a bit, that someone might recognise it...  ::)

Hi Dirk,
try ask Moser directly, not all pieces had been marked.

Can I have my formerly purchased item identified by Moser?
Please send us a product photo and a shot of the company's logo on the bottom of the product at customerserviceATmoser-glass.com, fax them at  +420 353 449 619 or mail them at the address MOSER, a.s., Kpt. Jaroa¡e 46/19, 360 06 Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic.

Than suspicious are factories CMS Krosno of Hlous¡ek from Jablonec n/N.

Another update to make. I must admit I would have felt a bit stupid about asking Moser in a manner
of "Is this part of an item produced by your company?".
But I've finally managed to get a complete example in uranium glass and contacted them.
Fingers crossed I'll get an answer!

BTW the ebay link above still works after more than a year!  Might have to do with the price?  :o

Hi,
got an email from Moser company today:

Quote
Dear Dirk.

Thank you for your e-mail and the sent photograph.

I have forwarded the picture of your item to the Moser research
department and unfortunately I have to inform you that this glass item
was not produced by Moser glassworks. We are also not sure if this glass
piece was made in Bohemia at all.

I hope to be more helpful to you next time.

Best regards

Though feeling a bit disappointed I appreciate this message for what it is:
Another helpful bit of information and worth
a small errata margin in Schweiger, Werner J. "Wiener Werkstätte - Kunst und Handwerk".

Surely I still like the item as it's a well designed and executed bit of uranium glass.  8)
