Topic: murano money clip date?

myself i would think around the 1950's, it measures 2.5"x 1.5", the stone measures 0.75" across and is filled with cane chips and gold/copper aventurine, the decoration on the metal is machine made and there are no makers marks stamped anywhere

Never seen one of these before you posted yours and blow me today I was offered one that carried an engraving dated 16/10/1956, but no idea who made them.
I didn't buy it because it was engraved.

Havent seen one before so I cant give you a guess as to maker. At first I thought it was a micromosaic on top. Those do fetch high prices on the appraiser TV shows

Yes, and they fetch high prices in the real world too, especially amongst paperweight collectors, who regard anything "micromosiac" as "paperweight-related"

I guess there are lots of items out there with 'Murano' stones in them, why not after all Strathearn and Caithness put stones into jewellery, tie pins, letter openers, money clips, earrings, and a 100 other things - I guess we value and appreciate these more - my local dealer wants £40.00 for Caithness spoons and such (he can go sing, I have lots already!)

I am sure this will change as long as people keep on showing us the Italian stuff, we can learn and research and I am sure there will be some surprises in store

I love Murano stuff like this cos you have to research, its now so easy with the UK and French stuff through the work of many on this board!
