Christine, I guess Janette could be right then too, if they are Webb Corbett.  :)  I've always thought this style is (heck, I sold mine as Webb Corbett!) but I guess that's only through people saying that here and on the internet, so it's not set in stone as far as I know.  Maybe KevH can throw some light on it?

I am thrilled that I was even close on this....I have gotten so much great info here...glad to add something.. :D

I've also seen paperweights similar to this that were supposedly made by Baccarat. They are faceted like their sulphides but there is no sulphide. To me it's like like an M&M with the chocolate center removed.  ;D
I collect Scottish and Italian paperweights and anything else that strikes my fancy.

Hi Steve

If you go into the Ruskin Centre in Stourbridge you will find a shop that repairs glass items, engraves pieces, and so on - I'm sure they would do it.

Snap! I have one in an identical colour, with one of those old ship's steering wheel thingies etched into the bottom window.

(Off topic - I know I should google this, but... What do you call those  'ship's steering wheel thingies' again?)

Ship's wheel is it.

On a sailboat it's shaped like a handle and we called it 'the tiller'.
