beyond Festivo
« on: January 14, 2009, 02:10:30 PM »
At some time in the past we discussed the Festivo lookalikes coming out of China - but here are to variants. The first one is Uno Westerberg for Pukeberg, and has also been sighted in black opaque. The second one is unknown. Height is 12 cm (4.3/4) but is also available in 15,5 (6) and in impeccable crystal.

Who?

Ivo,
please excuse my ignorance... how does the ´westerberg´ differ from it´s original?
(got one myself and didn´t consider it to be a fake so far)

Knowing (or at least assuming) that the Festivo is the first of this type (first photo) it was soon followed by imitations (second photo) and lookalikes (third photo) - and I would think the Westerberg one falls in the category lookalikes. I am just trying to find out who made the unidentified one?

Ivo, the lookalike Festivo's (the very cylindrical ones that we've all seen) are actually from Taiwan - my OH found a labelled one (pedantic point I know).

Thanks Pip - I knew that but I wondered what the lookalikes were. All academic now, I'm off into hiding again...

mm just wanted to add a small comment in defense of Uno Westerberg and Pukeberg. To find an obvious similarity between Uno's candle holder and the Festivo is really quite far fecthed in my humble opinion. Uno produced a range of larger items - two and three brach candle holders - in this shape and pattern which really do not bear much resemblance with the FESTIVO range. The only common factor is the the clear 'ice-like" look of the glass which is familiar to much Scandinavian glass production of the 1970s. Dirk. i hope you can sleep again  ;D

Hi, I'm not sure which one you're referring to but the three in the centre photo are definitely from Taiwan.
